    Default EMS Instructors

Sorry for posting this in more than one place on the EMS Rant but for too long nobody has reached out to individual EMS providers and told them about how to become an instructor.

The most important thing is that you get a NYS course sponsor to sponsor you to take an instructor course. Then there is the hassle of finding one of those few courses. If you have sponsorship here are two available courses and THEY ARE FREE!

New York State Certified Instructor Coordinator course.
    April 5, 7, 12, 14 from 6pm Ė 10pm
    St. Johnís University EMS Institute
    175-05 Horace Harding Expressway
    Fresh Meadows, NY 11365
    Prerequisites:
    • Complete an Application for Instructor Certification (DOH-2260).
    • Hold current certification as a NYS EMT or Advanced EMT.
    • Hold current certification as a NYS CLI.
    • Must have taken a NYS EMT/AEMT written certification examination within the past three years and scored at least 85%. Candidates who wish to teach advanced courses must also score at least 85% on the advanced portion of the AEMT exam. The CIC candidate must be certified at or above the desired teaching level.
    • Must be actively providing on-going, direct, hands-on, pre-hospital patient care with an EMS agency and have a minimum of two years of clinical experience (two of the last three years).
    • Submit a letter of recommendation from the Course Sponsor that will be providing the instructor internship.
