Nassau Firefighters Benevolent Association
Now, I'm surprised no one has ever mentioned this before....
Where I work, I have a union/benevolent assn. Where I volunteer also has the same.
Why is there not a Benevolent/Credit Union association in place for Nassau Firefighters?
I know there are many fraternal organizations within the Nassau County Fire Service, but what organization is gonna take care of your wife or kids when your gone??My posts are mine and do not represent my dept

Both FASNY and TOH have credit unions that are great.
What I'm driving at is this... if you get every Nassau Firefighter to contribute $2 a week (i.e. $104/yr) to a fund/account, we could...
A) Provide Medical insurance for those FF's who dont have it...
B) Provide an additonal resource for our members, i.e. Additional Life Insurance, etc
C) We would be able to do the right thing by ALL brothers in Nassau, reguardless of dept or length of service.
9 outta 10 of us have jobs, life insurance, etc. But whats a little bit more "protection" gonna hurt anyone? Especially if you get 2000 brothers to kick in 2 bucks a week?!?
This really is an idea that should be kicked around/picked up.
I pay dues to FASNY every year, and, not to instigate, what do I get for my dues? A Magazine?
I pay union dues too... but I actually get something for my $$. I pay dues to a benevolent association and again, I get something for my $$.
