Smoke showing - NOT the sig 98 thread
Ok, so you arrive at a P/D and announce you are on scene and you have smoke showing. What exactly are you saying?
What type of smoke? Black, pushing? or Whitish from the chimney? How bout thick black from the chimney? Where is the smoke? Basement? 1st floor, 2nd floor, eaves - attic? Both basement AND attic?
A little more that just smoke showing will do a long way.
Unit is 22 i have heaving smoke pushing from the first floor or I have smoke showing from the basement and atti?
Prepare your members respond in. saying a little more WILL go a long way"The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it". -T. Roosevelt

I would think that 'smoke showing' means that you're probably going to work, ie. a good amount of black smoke pushing out from a window, door, or anywhere that it's not supposed to be. If you say 'smoke showing' for some white stuff coming out of the chimney, you might wanna just go ahead and stay off the radio."You're in a Chinese opium den, Timmy."

ok, so you have heavy white smoke from the chimney, probably an oil burner emergency. Now, if its not working properly, could you possibly have high CO readings in the house? How about the white ghost? Nothing wrong with letting people know what you have on arrival. And this was my point. It gives the incoming units a heads up as to what they r coming into."The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it". -T.
